Luv Aj Loves Refinery 29
I mean, I’ve always LOVED Refinery 29. It could be the graphic design nerd in me that appreciates its refined typography, cool banners, hilarious infographics, or the eager all-consuming fashionista in me that knows it’s a one stop shop for all things chic, I just really love this site. And when you love something, and it loves you back… well that’s just somethin’ else.
My sister Claire and I started collaborating together last year when I was still an intern at Who What Wear. We found the ultimate combination of my skills and her skills with a little thing called The Dollycake. My sister is an insane cook and I love really expensive couture dresses and spend a lot of my time on Style.com (like way too much time, its gross). So we decided to join forces and start making these frosted fashion confections, which have been dubbed Couture Dolly Cakes. When I was at Who What Wear, I used every birthday as an excuse to whip up a dolly cake for the office: a Rodarte tribal tattoed bad ass, a Proenza Schouler tie-dyed surfer, and even a Alexander McQueen Gaga creation. As we started documenting them, twit pic-ing them, the buzz started to grow, and we were made onto Refinery 29′s Twitter Troll. We were beyond excited, and couldn’t believe these little cakes we were making in our kitchen were being featured on one of our favorite sites. So you can imagine when we were asked to make special Dollycakes wearing Spring 2010 RTW looks exclusively for Refinery 29, we were more than ecstatic.
After much deliberation, we went with a Balenciaga tweet shift dress and a Christopher Kane gingham number. The lovely Kate Mulling wrote a really sweet article on Claire and I and collaboration. Check it out below!

Now it doesn’t stop there. I was already so happy that our Dolly Cake’s made it on Refinery, but when I was able to shoot the Rodarte party at Mona Moore for them, I mean that was the icing on the cake (get it? ha). So last week, I went down to the uber-cool shoe haven on Abbott Kinney to check out the Nicholas Kirkwood for Rodarte shoe collection. I’m sure everyone’s been lusting over these kicks as images from the collection have been surfacing the internet, but seeing them in real life was just the bees knees. There were tons of cool people, lots of good shoes, a sushi truck (yes, sushi, it was really good), and just an all around good time. I ran into the Rodarte sisters, my old boss and mentor, jewelry designer, Corey Madley, and a few others. Check out my pics below!

My old boss lady and jewelry designer extraordinaire, Corey Madley… wearing a kick ass Lanvin rhinestoned collar
Corey Madley and the beautiful Erin Chiamulon (isn’t her dress amazing?)
Lillian Shalom and Niko Noir, jewelry designers for Sophia Morte (all the jewels are theirs, pretty rad)
My BFF and all-around gangsta Jessica Currie
Blogger and photo-stealer Mike Selksy (I’m kidding, but I did give him a bunch of good shots)
Ryan Gray of The Stronghold LA (i love a dude in denim on denim, done right!)
